Dear Colleague,

Every day, the Trump administration makes a new assault on funding for education and research, public services, and workers’ rights. This onslaught is causing chaos and fear—and it is designed to cause chaos and fear. It is important to remember that every day there are also people protesting in the streets, filing lawsuits against illegal actions, and working to defend our campuses and communities. The AAUP is standing with allies against these assaults and we need you to stand with us.

This week, we have turned out with the Labor for Higher Ed coalition to say hands off our healthcare, research, and jobs; filed for a restraining order on the termination of essential grants and contracts; spoken out about the administration’s perversion of the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights as it threatens the elimination of federal funding for institutions that support and celebrate students from diverse backgrounds; and participated in rallies and protests across the country.

Hands off rally in DC
Here are a few things you can do right now:

Tuesday, February 25, at 1:30 p.m. Eastern: Attend (virtually or in person) a press conference and rally to say “Hands off our healthcare, research, education, and jobs.” This action, cosponsored by the AAUP, will take place at the Department of Health and Human Services at 200 Independence Ave SW in Washington, DC, and includes an online phone banking component for those who cannot attend in person.
