Friend, Donald Trump’s plan to dismantle public education just took a major step forward. Today, the Senate education committee voted to advance Linda McMahon’s nomination for Secretary of Education. Now, the full Senate will vote – and if confirmed, she’ll do exactly what Trump wants: gut the Department of Education, slash funding for public schools, and funnel taxpayer dollars to billionaire-backed private interests. McMahon isn’t just unqualified – she’s a clear threat to public education. She served only a year on a state education board before resigning after lying about having a degree in education. She has no expertise – just deep loyalty to Trump and a history of funneling millions into his campaign. She’s also leading Trump’s plan to dismantle the Department of Education, a move that would: ❌ Eliminate funding for school meals – leaving children without access to nutritious breakfasts and lunches. ❌ Shut down programs that help students with disabilities, making it harder for families to access essential services. ❌ Cut support for rural schools, forcing closures and larger class sizes in communities already struggling to keep teachers. ❌ Drain public school funding into private school vouchers, prioritizing billionaires over students who rely on public education. ❌ Eliminate protections for LGBTQ+ students, rolling back Title IX rights for transgender youth and threatening funding for schools that support LGBTQ+ inclusion. This is not about education reform – this is about abolishing public education as we know it. If McMahon gets her way, students will be forced into overcrowded classrooms, teachers will lose their jobs, and entire communities will be left without the resources they need to educate the next generation. Meanwhile, Trump and his billionaire friends will be cashing in. This is about our kids, our schools, and our future. If we don’t act now, Trump and McMahon will sell out public education to their billionaire donors. Add your name to our petition and urge your senators to vote NO on Linda McMahon. >> Let’s stop this nomination before it’s too late. Thanks for your advocacy, Alana Byrd
