I’m proud to share this update with you, John.

I’ve introduced my first bill in Congress – the Chiquita Canyon Tax Relief Act. If passed, this bill would provide tax relief to residents in my district who have been affected by the Chiquita Canyon Landfill.

If you don’t know, the Chiquita Canyon Landfill has been cited numerous times for polluting the water, air, and land in nearby neighborhoods with toxic fumes. There’s no reason these residents should have to pay taxes on the much-needed assistance they need resulting from this environmental disaster.

This week, I visited families who have been affected, listened to their stories, and discussed the immediate need for assistance. There’s no sugarcoating it: This is a crisis, and CA-27 needs this bill.

My first bill is all about standing up for and lowering costs for our community. This is only the beginning, and I thank you for your continued support as I go to bat for you in Congress.
