Hi Friend,

As we celebrate Presidents’ Day this week, I’m thinking about many of our past presidents who respected the rule of law and the Constitution. Our country was founded by those who escaped monarchies where the people had no say.

Our founding documents were written to ensure that the people had a voice and that no single person could control our country. Just a few weeks into this presidency, it’s clear Donald Trump doesn’t feel that way.

He’s taken illegal action after illegal action with complete disregard for Congress and the law. And in response to losing in court and receiving public backlash, his posts on social media make it clear he will continue down this path.

Donald Trump has placed America in a constitutional crisis. This mentality represents a danger to the future of our democracy.

I’ll continue speaking up about his violations of our laws. Congress was created to be a check on the President. If congressional Republicans respect the rule of law, they will join us in opposing his illegal actions.

Thank you,

Peter
