Hey Team –
By tracking our every click, hover, and movement on and offline [1], Big Tech companies represent a powerful weapon for carrying out the Trump administration’s surveillance, prosecution, degradation, and deportation of people [2]. But state governments have the power to represent their constituents and ensure their privacy and safety.
We're joining 50+ organizations that are calling on state lawmakers to pass legislation that will protect our privacy and safety, online and off. We need your help to get it to your elected leaders. Tell your Governor and State Leaders: Act NOW to protect our digital privacy and safety from Trump's tech oligarchy.
CONTACT YOUR LAWMAKERS
Across the country, states have the power to pass legislation with our privacy and safety in mind. It is imperative that our elected officials take action by putting up barriers between state and federal governments and private companies to protect our privacy, safeguarding sensitive personal data like health information, limiting incentives for private companies collecting and storing our data, and empowering people to have control of their own data, privacy, and safety. These are the types of protections we need to cement our fundamental rights against attacks from this administration.
Trump has made it clear that he wants to punish political opponents [3], deport millions of people including citizens [4], restrict access to reproductive care [5], and undermine LGBTQ+ rights [6]. And he can tap Big Tech for our data to carry out his abuses [7]. If we don’t act, people will get hurt. We must demand that our state leaders step up to protect our privacy, security, and safety to the fullest extent possible. We still have power, and we must use it now.
Write to your governor and other elected states leaders to demand protections against the exploitation of Big Tech’s surveillance NOW.
In solidarity,
