1) John Thune Can Make America Great Again

The new Senate majority leader John Thune is off to a magnificent start.

As our friend Jim Carter notes:

At this writing, the Senate has confirmed 19 Trump Cabinet and sub-Cabinet nominations and, through a cumulative 1,197 Republican confirmation votes. In only seven of these 1,197 instances did a Republican fail to support the appointees, and the Nay votes came from only three GOP senators: former Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. (3 times), Susan Collins, R-Maine (2 times), and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska (2 times). The remaining 50 Republicans voted unanimously for all of the nominations.

Bravo.

Now, Thune faces an even more monumental challenge: crack the whip and speed the Trump tax bill through the Senate. Delay is the enemy of the economy and the GOP majorities in the House and Senate. The case for urgency is reinforced by this week's disappointing economic numbers on jobs and growth.

We agree with Steve Forbes that a big, beautiful tax cut passed and signed quickly is the best way to supercharge the economy.

Why wait?

2) Wyoming Becomes 15th State to Adopt Universal School Choice

Here's the joyous headline from the Cowboy State Daily:
[link removed]

It's a small rural state with a sweeping reform. The law will offer public money for private education to all grade levels, while expanding vouchers for pre-K, home schoolers, and special ed students. Families with incomes of up to $82,000 annual income will qualify.

President Trump called the new law "an incredible victory for Wyoming families" when he helped push it over the finish line:

We agree.

Kudos to ALEC for helping round up the votes in Cheyenne.

Now on to Texas...

3) Bessent to the Rescue

Scott Bessent is turning out to be one of the best Treasury Secretaries in modern times. He’s spot on right that Congress needs to get the Trump tax cut is the biggest stimulus for the economy and recovery from the Biden-era hangover.

We appreciate his shout out to UP yesterday during his interview with UP co-founder Larry Kudlow at the New York Economic Club, and the work we’re doing to help him get the bullish Trump tax cut made permanent.

4) Michigan Requires Price Transparency in Health Care

Michigan State Senator Jonathan Lindsey, makes a powerful case for his bill SB95, which requires Michigan hospitals to comply with federal price transparency rules. His bill has teeth, because it prohibits hospitals that are out of compliance from taking collection actions against consumers.

And he convinced his colleagues - it passed 35 to 1! On to the House.

(Full disclosure: Sen Lindsey is UP co-founder Arthur Laffer’s son in law!)

5) Art Collectors Can Sure Be Fickle

Hunter Biden made millions of dollars selling his art when dad was president... but shockingly there is no longer any demand for his masterpieces.

He filed this in a court case yesterday:

By our math, this statement indicates the great artiste made at $54,481.48 per, he sold his 28 paintings for a total of $1,507,000. We suspect their current value is approximately $0.

We wonder what changed???
