President Trump is Standing Up for the People of
Wyoming and America. | During his speech to the joint session of
Congress this week, President Trump laid out a clear vision for
America: a Golden Age, where our government once again puts the
American people first, and prioritizes safety and prosperity. For far
too long, American leaders sent aid abroad, while ignoring the
hardships and concerns of citizens at home. In just six weeks,
President Trump has achieved an astonishing amount for our country.
He’s secured our southern border, begun to roll back burdensome
energy regulations to boost American energy production, and saved
billions of taxpayer dollars. The president did not make promises just
to secure victory, he is fulfilling every single one of them.
During his remarks, President Trump delivered a bold, forward-looking
vision for our nation, supported by the brave men and women, boys and
girls who embody the American dream. While Republicans celebrated
securing our border and protecting women’s sports, Democrats
refused to recognize these victories that keep Americans safe. When
Republicans stood in solidarity with DJ Daniel and Laken Riley,
Democrats remained seated, showing the American people whose side they
are on. Our nation is not so far gone that we cannot come together to
honor a child battling brain cancer or a young woman whose life was
taken too soon. Yet, Democrats in Congress would have the American
people believe they’ve lost their compassion. Four years
under the Biden administration left the west in disarray, and
President Trump is putting the pieces back together. By declaring an
energy emergency, he unlocked Wyoming’s potential to maximize
its power production. By securing our southern border, illegal
crossings hit a record low, protecting communities throughout the
Cowboy State. And by reining in the federal bureaucracy, President
Trump is ensuring the government works for the taxpayers who fund it.
We have left the dark age behind and are entering a golden era for
Wyoming prosperity. Happy Trails, |
Senator Lummis' Week in
Pictures | We had a great start to Wyoming Wednesdays! There is
nothing I enjoy more than hearing from people throughout the Cowboy
State about how Senator Barrasso, Representative Hageman, and I can
help here in Washington. I met with the SSA nominee Frank
Bisignano to discuss fully staffing offices & bringing reliable
Social Security service to every corner of the state. The Senate DOGE Caucus had a
productive meeting with Elon Musk to discuss how Congress can work
with the president to deliver on the promises the American people
voted for. It
was wonderful to meet with future EPA Deputy Administrator David
Fotouhi! David is experienced and qualified to tackle environmental
attacks on the Wyoming way of life.
 | Legislative
Actions | I led
Senator John Barrasso and Representative Harriet Hageman in
introducing legislation to rename the National Historic Trails
Interpretive Center in Casper the “Barbara L. Cubin National
Historic Trails Interpretive Center.” Wyoming, the Equality
State, has produced remarkable trailblazers who shaped the path
forward for American women, and Barbara Cubin stands firmly among
them. As a founding member of the Congressional Western Caucus,
Barbara was a powerful voice for our western values. Now, as chair of
the Senate counterpart, I’m proud to carry on her legacy as a
fierce champion for the Wyoming way of life. This legislation not only
commemorates Barbara’s extraordinary decades of public service
but also acknowledges the indelible mark she has left on our state and
nation. It was a long Thursday night two weeks ago when
Democrats wasted everyone’s time by trying to update the
Senate’s budget resolution with amendments that had nothing to
do with securing our border, unleashing American energy, and
rebuilding our military. Under President Biden’s failed
leadership, hardworking families across Wyoming shelled out more of
their hard-earned money than ever to keep up with record-breaking
inflation and watched as Biden’s policies jeopardized our
national security. The budget resolution isn’t perfect, but it
is a first step towards securing our southern border, making our
military strong again, and unleashing American energy. President Trump
promised to deliver peace through strength, and we are ensuring he has
the resources necessary to put hardworking Wyoming families first.
This first step will be followed by making tax cuts permanent, cutting
wasteful spending, and growing our economy. I also chaired the
very first hearing of the Digital Assets Subcommittee where witnesses
expressed the need for Congress to provide a clear regulatory
framework for digital assets to promote growth and maintain our
nation’s reputation as a global leader in financial innovation.
We have come a long way since I was elected to the Senate in 2020,
when many of the members of this body were still trying to wrap their
heads around what a bitcoin is and what a stablecoin is. We are on the
precipice of finally creating a bipartisan legislative framework for
both stablecoins and market structure. I am hopeful that we can get
both pieces of legislation to President Trump for his signature this
year. |
