Hi John,

Did you miss our new webinar, "Understanding the Difference: Emergency Contraceptives and Medication Abortion are Not the Same"? Don’t fret—there's still time to catch up! With the anti-abortion movement lodging attacks against both abortion and emergency contraception, and often conflating the two, it is important that we understand the difference between these vital medications to help fight the stigma anti-abortion leaders are trying to foster.

Live Action, an extreme anti-abortion organization, is trying to push their propaganda into public school curriculums under the guise of fetal development education. Their widely debunked “Baby Olivia” video has already influenced laws in multiple states, spreading medically inaccurate claims and dangerous disinformation about reproductive health care. Students deserve fact-based, science-backed health education—not disinformation designed to advance an extremist agenda.

Self-Care

Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.

Here are our self-care tips for March:

  1. Get a library card! Even if you're not the biggest reader, a library card opens a world of possibilities. Many public libraries offer language classes, author talks, children's play spaces, WiFi and cafes, and more. You can also use your library card to access digital holdings and audiobooks on apps like Libby. Get to know your local library—you won't regret it! – Ani, Archival Research Coordinator
  2. Visit another country (online!) - Are you itching for a new adventure, but can't make it happen right now? Consider "visiting" a foreign country via walking tours on Youtube. You can basically find a walking tour of any major city in the world, so spend an hour or two exploring from the comfort of your own couch! Grab a drink or make a dish for the occasion that coincides with whatever city you're "in." Happy adventuring! – Nataley, Executive Assistant and Senior Operations Coordinator
  3. Indulge in something fancy to make at home: While most of us are comfortable spending 8 dollars on coffee a few times a week, we are not as likely to spend 30 dollars on coffee beans or matcha powder that would elevate our home barista experience. Since I have started investing money and time into the drinks and treats I can make at home, my days have become so much more enjoyable! – Laila, Lead Organizer

See you next month!

In Solidarity,

Erin, Shireen, Andrea, Ani, Annie, Elizabeth, Jacqueline, Jasmine, Jessica, Kelli, Kieran, Laila, Nataley, Negar, Victoria and the Reproaction team
