Dear John,
Today, The Sentencing Project released a federal advocacy toolkit, where you’ll find our key legislative priorities for the 119th Congress across our campaigns to 1) end extreme sentencing, 2) expand voting rights, and 3) promote youth justice.
I know firsthand the importance and power of advocacy. In January 2021, I received compassionate release under the First Step Act after serving 33 years of a life sentence. And with five months of freedom under my belt, I joined The Sentencing Project to fight for second chances for others.
Join me in this work! Our new toolkit will show you how. It includes guides on how to meet with your Congressional representatives and their staff, raise your voice through op-eds, and speak out on social media. Your voice matters and we want you to join the fight.
Advocacy holds Congress accountable. Advocacy can create second chances, restore people’s right to vote, and make our youth justice system more humane. Together, let’s tell Congress: it’s time to end mass incarceration.
