Trump cannot silence perspectives he doesn't agree with.

ACLU Supporter, Donald Trump is trying to force schools and artists alike to bow to his political agenda. We, and the Constitution, won't let him. That's why we filed two new lawsuits against Trump this week – bringing us to 16 suits since he took office.

The first lawsuit is in response to President Trump's threats to slash funding to schools that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Any school, from pre-K to higher ed, would have to abandon lawful efforts to follow best education guidance and create an inclusive learning environment, or risk having their funding ripped away.

The second piece of litigation is challenging the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency to support art across the country, which now requires grant applicants to certify that they will not use funds to “promote gender ideology.”

Both announcements are clear attempts at censorship – trying to control what our students can learn and what artists can create to promote a white, cisgender view of America. These viewpoint-based attacks are a clear violation of our due process and First Amendment rights.

The government can't hold funding hostage to force a certain political ideology on the American people. We'll keep seeing the Trump administration in court until we beat these attacks on our fundamental rights.

As always, it's your support that enables us to take up these monumentally important fights. Thanks for fighting by our side – and know that we're in this together.
