Team, it’s Ruben Gallego here. Maybe you saw this:
Quote: 'No more in-person town halls, NRCC chief tells House Republicans'
Here’s what I think:
If you’re going to stand up and cheer for Donald Trump at a joint address, you should be able to tell your voters why.
If you’re going to vote to rip the heart out of Medicaid and food assistance to give tax breaks to billionaires, you can’t run away from the people you’re hurting.
If you’re going to back up Trump and Elon when they’re firing thousands of employees who administer Social Security, Medicare, and the VA, you better show up and answer some questions about it.
They know what they’re doing — they know it’s unpopular, they know people are pissed, and they’re going to hide and hope nobody holds them accountable for it.
Not on my watch.
I’m going into rural Arizona, deep red parts of my state, and holding “Save Medicaid” town halls. I’m showing up. I’m doing it because cuts like these are reckless, they’re dangerous, and we’ve got to stop them. If Republicans won’t show up on their own home turf, I will.
And I am humbly asking if you can chip in $5 or $10 to help support me before I hit the road.
