John,
Fires are burning across America. As tonight approaches, the threat is real that the burning and other property destruction will continue, and even spread to other cities.
What started out as peaceful demonstrations has devolved into arson and the criminal destruction of property. Peaceful protests take place during daylight hours. As night descends, then provocateurs feel emboldened. When the first car fire is set, pandemonium breaks out. Like a reality show, it becomes hard for law-abiding citizens to walk away.
The scene looks like a riot, when it is actually only a small group that is engaged in lawless behavior, with many others following behind, watching the action. There are people who inbed themselves with the peaceful protesters, but their goals are different. Some want anarchy. Some want to incite a race war. Others are criminals looking to loot and steal. We should not allow these people to destroy our neighborhoods, or our cities.
If you are reading this message, please understand that peaceful protests don’t take place at night. So if you believe in peace, and you stand for truth, righteousness and order, then stay home this evening. If you see people setting fires, take a picture or a video and get it to the authorities. Don’t let our cities descend into violence. Don’t become part of the problem -- be a part of the solution! Love is the answer!
In the spirit of peaceful activism, here are some worthy causes you can contribute to that will make a positive difference.
- George Floyd Memorial Fund
- Reclaim The Block
In solidarity,
Hank
