Email from 40 Days for Life You can't make this up John, By toppling Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court restored the right to protect unborn babies to we the people. That freedom is in jeopardy in Wisconsin, where a Planned Parenthood lawsuit before the state Supreme Court argues that the right to life and liberty guaranteed by Wisconsin's constitution actually means a right to abortion. You can't make this stuff up. The Madison 40 Days for Life team responded by launching the campaign with a day of prayer and fasting--which included a massive prayer rally that brought hundreds of pro-lifers to the state Capitol. Prayer warriors braved frigid conditions to unite in prayer with Christian and pro-life leaders including Bishop Donald Hying, Abortion Pill Reversal physician Dr. Michael Kloess, longtime Milwaukee 40 Days for Life leader Dan Miller, state pro-life organizations, and 40 Days for Life campaign director Steve Karlen. Steve reminded attendees that whatever the Supreme Court decides, 40 Days for Life participants will continue to pray, fast, witness, vote, and stand vigil for life. "If life wins at the Supreme Court, we keep fighting until every mom and baby is safe from abortion," he said. "If life loses, we proceed with confidence knowing that God is not bound by unjust laws." Steve then highlighted major victories in abortion-friendly states--including a growing number of abortion facilities that have recently closed in states like Illinois, New York, and Ohio. Columbia, Missouri In November, Missouri citizens narrowly voted to take away their own right to protect abortion-vulnerable babies by enshrining a right to abortion in their state constitution. That's the bad news. The good news is that 2024 Sue Thayer Leader of the Year Award winner Kathy Forck and her team stand in Planned Parenthood's way. Kathy has long been a thorn in the abortion industry's side, and she deployed her sidewalk counselors as abortions resumed in the Show-Me State for the first time since 2018. "These prayer ladies...don't sit!" she said of her team. "They will be here at least eight hours." Ealing, England The United Kingdom is making headlines lately--for all the wrong reasons. The country's crackdown on free speech even drew a rebuke from Vice President J.D. Vance. But anti-pro-life speech buffer zones can't stop 40 Days for Life participants from saving babies. "Despite all the legal challenges to pro-life public witness, lives have been saved," shared 40 Days for Life director of international campaigns Robert Colquhoun. Ealing campaign kickoff rally attendees were treated to a powerful testimony from a woman who escaped pressure to abort from her abusive family. "Through this amazing group of pro-life people, I was able to have my beautiful baby, who is now one!" the mom shared. "Please...come to the vigil and support 40 Days for Life [to help] people like me." But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall name him John. … He will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb, and he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God." --Luke 1:13, 15-16 Our Father in heaven, we pray in a special way for all those who struggle with infertility. We ask you to give them peace in their suffering, strength in their perseverance, and healing in body and soul.
