Here’s what I always say: we need reform, yes. It’s why I came to Congress. But we simply can’t do it without transparency and buy-in from the American people.

I’m all for getting rid of fraud and waste, but so far, we’ve seen no evidence. What we have seen is an unelected billionaire with multiple conflicts of interest calling the shots on our federal budget. Because of it, Medicaid has been shut down, competent safety professionals have been fired, prices continue to rise, and Tesla? Well, they get a $400 million dollar contract.

If Republicans are serious about rooting out fraud and corruption in our government, they’ll start with Elon Musk. Democrats are already paving the way. We’ve introduced the CLEAR Act and Taxpayer Protection Act to provide clear oversight and protect taxpayer privacy. All Republicans need to do is bring these straightforward bills to the floor.

I’ve always put my country before my party. Now, I’m calling on my Republican colleagues to do the same.
