Good morning,

This week, I returned to Washington, D.C. to vote on important legislation providing flexibility to the Paycheck Protection Program to help Arizona workers and small businesses. As we work to pass these critical bills, I remain committed to helping Arizonans during this time, and that includes showing up to vote in Washington, D.C.

Legislative Update

I recently co-sponsored H.R. 6813, the Promoting Alzheimer’s Awareness to Prevent Elder Abuse Act. This is important legislation that will help prevent elder abuse and the exploitation of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. Right now, we need to be prioritizing the most vulnerable among us, especially our elderly, and I am proud to work on legislation that protects them from harm.

Encouraging Story

I am touched by this story of Bashas’ grocery store, which has been supporting local charities through their Charity of the Month program. For the month of May, their Charity of the Month was Folds of Honor, which provides educational scholarships and support to families and children of our service members. Thank you for supporting our troops!

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office because she had been waiting for a couple of months for her tax refund. Our office reached out to the IRS, which indicated that they were waiting for her amended return to be processed before the 2019 return could be released. We requested a one-time exception to be made, which was granted, and shortly after she received her tax refund.

Coronavirus Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office because he is a truck driver who was frustrated that his vehicle registration had not been processed due to the Coronavirus and was concerned about driving with expired plates. Our office reached out to the Arizona Department of Transportation, and shortly after contacting them, his registration was processed, and he received his new license plates.

Save the Date

On Tuesday, June 2nd at 2:00 PM, I will be co-hosting a Virtual Service Academy Day along with Representatives Greg Stanton, Ruben Gallego, Tom O’Halleran, and Raúl Grijalva.
