Breaking news, John:

CNN: Trump preparing to sign order to dismantle the Education Department. President Donald Trump could decide this week to take the first steps to eliminate the Department of Education, people familiar with the matter said, as he looks to dramatically shrink the size of the federal government.

You read that right: Donald Trump is preparing to dismantle the Department of Education.

Students cannot afford this. During the 2021-2022 school year, North Carolina received nearly $4 billion from the federal government — close to 20% of North Carolina public schools’ revenue.

Trump’s plans to rip this critical lifeline away from our teachers and students would have devastating consequences for the future of public education in North Carolina.

This move would steal resources from our students who need them the most, take away special education services for students with disabilities, make it harder for us to hire teachers, make higher education more expensive for working families, and so much more — all to pave the way for Donald Trump’s massive tax break for billionaires.

Far too many extremists on the right want to gut the Department of Education, but we deserve better. That’s why I’m fighting back.

I will always fight for our public schools and our educators. Will you fight with me against Donald Trump’s plans to devastate public education by rushing in a donation today?

If you've saved payment information with ActBlue, your donation to Wiley Nickel will process immediately:

We need a strong public education system to set our children up for lifelong success. I will stand up to anyone and everyone who tries to steal from our kids just to line their own pockets.

Thank you,

Wiley

Your donation will fund organizing, infrastructure, and other things NC Democrats need to fight Trump and win in 2026.
