Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small, U.S Representative District 2

Xochitl Torres Small is an attorney and former Senate staffer, serving as the U.S. Representative from New Mexico’s 2nd congressional district. After attending college, she returned home to work on then Rep. Tom Udall’s successful run for the Senate. As a Field Representative for Sen. Udall, Xochitl worked on issues ranging from water conservation and infrastructure development to education and health care accessibility. Inspired by her work on water for Sen. Udall, Xochitl left his office to attend law school at the University of New Mexico (UNM), where she specialized in water and natural resources. Immediately after completing her degree, she clerked for a New Mexico federal judge with one of the heaviest criminal dockets in the country. Most recently, Xochitl practiced law at Kemp Smith focusing mostly on water.

Rep. Linda Trujillo, NM House of Representatives, District 48
Location manager seeks ABQ legislative seat » Albuquerque Journal [[link removed]] Trujillo, who was born in Tacoma, Washington has lived in Santa Fe for over 15 years. She worked as the state of New Mexico’s records administrator, a job to which she was appointed by the Commission of Public Records. Previously, she was director of the Boards and Commissions Division of the state Regulation and Licensing Department. Trujillo earned a law degree from the Seattle University School of Law. She was elected to the Santa Fe school board in 2011 and re-elected in 2014. She also was elected vice president of the state School Board Association in December 2014. That association named her school board member of the year. She has served in the New Mexico House of Representatives from the 48th district since 2017.
Jessica Velasquez, NM House of Representatives, District 22

Jessica is an Albuquerque business owner whose family company specializes in precious metals electroplating and has served the high-tech, aerospace, and decorative sectors since 1976. Jessica is also proud of her previous career as a middle school English teacher. She left the classroom to engage in local politics and in 2018 she ran for the NM House of Representatives in District 22. After earning 49.57% of the vote for a narrow loss, Jessica went on to serve with Governor Lujan Grisham's interim Education Committee, and served on the Bernalillo County 2020 Census Complete Count Committee. Jessica is a board member of Sandia Park Scenic Byway Firewise, dedicated to reducing wildfire risk and increasing community resilience, and of Kindness Club International, which aims to build positive school culture through student leadership. Jessica is a member of the Democratic Party of NM's State Central Committee and is Chair of Ward 22A in Bernalillo County. Jessica feels lucky to live in Sandia Park with her husband, three kids, two dogs, and a dozen chickens. She is deeply committed to making life better for all New Americans and looks forward to serving the East Mountains and Placitas in the NM Legislature.
Judge Courtney Weaks, District Court Judge Second Judicial District, Division 15

Courtney Weaks is running for Division 15 of the Second Judicial District Court in Bernalillo County as a Criminal Judge. Judge Weaks currently holds a criminal position as Metropolitan Court Judge, Division 4.
Judge Weaks was nominated by a bi-partisan Judicial Nominating Commission, composed of judges, attorneys as well as non-lawyers, in the summer of 2013. Judge Weaks went on to win a general election in the Fall of 2014. Judge Weaks is the current Presiding Judge of Metropolitan Court’s Specialty Court Programs. There are currently thirteen different programs that focus on treatment and recovery targeted to address addiction, mental health diagnosis, homelessness and domestic violence issues. Judge Weaks was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. Judge Weaks isa graduate of the University of Kansas, where she obtained an undergraduate degree in English Literature in 2004. She returned to the beloved Land of Enchantment to attend Law School, where she met her husband Jason, and graduated in 2007. Judge Weaks and her husband reside in the beautiful North Valley with their two year old daughter and
their two corgis, Zeus and Oscar.

I am a proud educator and social worker. I enjoy spending time with my husband Mark, and dogs: Tessa and Smokey. I like to say: “As long as I am outdoors, I am happy.” My hobbies are hiking, sailing, gardening, and swimming. I am a sports fan of both college and professional sports and NASCAR!! I am active in my community including my local church in Silver City, Church of the Good Shepard. I am also active in the Grant County Democratic Party. In addition, I am on several local, state and national boards including: Grant County Community Partnership for Children; National Association of Social Workers, New Mexico Chapter Board, and I am on the National Association of Social Workers National Political Action Candidate Election (PACE) Board. I am a proud graduate of Western New Mexico University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I earned my undergraduate degree at American University.
