In the runup to the 2024 election, Republican leaders denied having any
knowledge of Project 2025 — the far-right playbook by the MAGA Heritage
Foundation to upend our democracy.
Now in power — they’re openly embracing it.
Since Trump retook the White House, his administration has begun
transitioning its recommendations into actual policy.
From illegally attempting to terminate birthright citizenship, unleashing
a wave of deportations, undoing environmental protections, rolling back
student loan forgiveness plans, and much more — the cruelty is the
point, John.
With Democrats locked out of power in Washington, lawsuits, the courts,
and individual states are our next best lines of defense. And it’s here
that we’ve seen some success.
After the administration tried to unilaterally end birthright citizenship
(something that’s codified in the Constitution) a coalition of states and
organizations sued to stop the illegal order from going into effect.
Several federal judges — including one appointed by Trump himself —
blocked the executive order.
We know the last 40+ days have felt more akin to 40 years. But we can’t
give into despair. Our rights and freedoms are on the line.
John, the last
few weeks have shown us that together, we can thwart and stop key parts of
Project 2025 from becoming reality. But this work relies on grassroots
supporters like you.
