Hello John,
Imagine enduring life confined to an area without enough room to stretch or walk more than a couple of steps. This is the nightmarish reality for hens trapped in cages, where each bird is given floor space smaller than a letter-size sheet of paper.
The fourth-largest grocery retailer in the United States, Ahold Delhaize, pledged to ban this cruelty from their operations by 2025 but has since broken their promise. The company, which operates Food Lion, Stop & Shop, Hannaford, and other regional brands, recently delayed the deadline for fulfilling their cage-free commitment until 2032.
Today, we launched a campaign calling on Ahold Delhaize and their brands to stop subjecting chickens to a life of extreme confinement once and for all.
Caged hens can't wait another seven years. Can they count on you to hold the company accountable?
