John,

Congress needs to come to an agreement by March 14th to fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year to avoid a government shutdown. They are considering again simply extending the FY 2024 funding levels. Congress already approved over $29 billion in yearly funding for abusive immigration enforcement agencies, largely going to line the pockets of private contractors.

Now the Trump administration is requesting something called an “anomaly” that could add hundreds of millions more taxpayer dollars for detention and deportation operations.

Not only do these billions of dollars for immigration enforcement separate families, disrupt communities’ entire social and economic infrastructure, and commit countless human rights abuses, but this money also comes at the expense of prioritizing vital programs and services that support everyone’s needs, like healthcare and food assistance.

This is an outrage, but you have an opportunity to make sure your elected officials do NOT approve this funding.

Join us in urging your representatives to block the administration’s devastating attacks on immigrants by rejecting more funding for enforcement, detention, and deportation throughout this year’s appropriations process.

Sincerely,

Jesse Franzblau
