John,
Today, millionaires stop paying into Social Security. That’s because once you earn $176,100 in 2025, you stop contributing to Social Security. And someone making $1 million a year gets their first $176,100 in just 65 days. Billionaires made that much about an hour into the year; or in the case of Elon Musk, just 15 minutes.
But if millionaires and billionaires paid into Social Security on a larger share of their income―like everyone else does who makes under $176,100―we could not only expand Social Security for millions of people, we could greatly extend the lifespan of the Trust Fund.
That’s why we’re supporting Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren’s Social Security Expansion Act!
Add your name to become a grassroots co-sponsor of the Social Security Expansion Act today.
Senators Sanders and Warren’s new bill would increase Social Security’s modest annual benefits by $2,400, increase Cost of Living Adjustments to more accurately measure the spending patterns of seniors, increase the Special Minimum Benefit to help low-income workers stay out of poverty, and more.
The bill is completely paid for by lifting the payroll tax cap on anyone earning over $250,000―under this bill, over 93% of households would not see their taxes go up by one penny.
This Sanders-Warren bill to expand Social Security comes at a time when Elon Musk’s DOGE is attacking the Social Security Administration and Musk himself is undermining confidence in Social Security by spreading lies and misinformation―even outrageously calling this nearly century-old bedrock of working-family economic stability a “Ponzi scheme.”
Take action now and become a grassroots co-sponsor of the Sanders-Warren Social Security Expansion Act!
Together, we’re demanding billionaires like Elon Musk pay more of their fair share into Social Security because when they do, we can extend the lifespan of the trust fund while increasing benefits for millions of Americans.
Thank you for taking action today,
David Kass
