When I first ran, I faced the same challenges so many of our leaders do—doubts from insiders, attacks from extremists, and the pressure of proving that an out candidate could win. But with the support of LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, I was able to break barriers and make history. I was the first Asian American elected to the Campbell City Council and as the youngest out LGBTQ+ mayor in the nation!
