ACLU Supporter – 45 days ago, President Donald Trump took the oath of office. Since
that
moment, we've filed 16 lawsuits (and counting!) to stop his attacks on our civil rights:
- Within two hours of the Trump administration's attack on birthright citizenship, the ACLU
sued. Three weeks ago, a federal court issued a preliminary injunction in our case blocking
enforcement of this executive action – and ensuring babies aren't illegally and
inhumanely
denied their citizenship.
- We've filed lawsuits for access to immigrants sent from the United States to Guantánamo Bay
and to stop those illegal transfers; to block Trump's efforts to fast-track deportations
without due process; and to halt the administration's efforts to completely shut down asylum
at the border.
- When the Trump administration ordered all institutions receiving federal grants to stop
gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth, we sued. A federal judge issued a
temporary restraining order blocking this executive order – a lifesaving victory
for the
trans community.
- We've also filed suit blocking a dangerous policy that prevents trans individuals from
having passports that match their gender identity; and to stop a ban on trans athletes
participating in women's sports.
- And we're not just fighting in the courtroom. We mobilized more than 180,000
supporters to
contact Congress and demand that DOGE stop accessing our private information.
And we're not done yet.
The attacks are relentless, but so are we. When Donald Trump comes for our civil rights, he has
to get through all of us. Yet, our ability to carry out these fights for the next 45 days and
well beyond – in courtrooms, Congress, and communities – hinges on the ongoing support
of people
like you.
So
please, will you make a donation of whatever you can so the ACLU has the resources to
challenge the Trump administration's attacks on our civil liberties?
Thank you,
The ACLU Team
