“Over Veterans’ Protests, Trump Vetoes Measure to Block Student Loan Rules”

Team,
Trump just vetoed Susie’s bipartisan bill to overturn Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’ latest rule that guts protections for student loan borrowers defrauded by for-profit colleges.
These colleges, who target veteran students with G.I. benefits or non-traditional working students, have left thousands with worthless degrees and mountains of student loan debt.
Instead of protecting students, Trump is siding with predatory colleges and Betsy DeVos’ rule that shields them from accountability.
Now more than ever, we need to stand with leaders like Susie who work across the aisle and fight for working American families. Susie is facing a critical end-of-month deadline just days before she heads into the general election. Will you chip in to help reach her goal before tomorrow’s deadline? →
There aren’t many issues that Republicans and Democrats will come together on, but both sides of the aisle joined Susie in passing this bill because there’s nothing political about protecting students who are working to further their education.
It’s simply the right thing to do.
While Betsy DeVos has attempted to roll back dozens of initiatives that increase access to higher education -- Susie has worked to make college more affordable and reduce the burden of student loans.
Trump and his allies have shown they’ll put special interests above working families, our health care, and students time and time again. Will you chip in to help Susie reach her May fundraising goal and continue fighting against Trump’s reckless agenda? →
Thanks for having Susie’s back,
Team Lee
