Here’s the truth, John:

I wish I didn’t have to ask for money in emails like these. It’s honestly one of my least favorite parts of the job. 

Unfortunately, elections often come down to who has the most money to train volunteers, reach voters, and run ads. So while this is a necessary part of the job, I’m always trying to cultivate strong relationships with grassroots supporters like you, rooted in honesty and truth. 

I’m a real person, John. I understand just how frustrating the constant stream of emails asking for money can be. That’s why I’ll never resort to scare tactics or gimmicks to get you to donate.
