I had the chance to sit down with Source New Mexico to discuss key topics that I know are top of mind for New Mexicans across the state.
Before I share my thoughts, I have to ask: If you’re able to, will you please chip in $5 today to power our campaign for working people?
Here are some of my thoughts on this current moment:
- Immigration: We must ensure that any community is treated with dignity and respect. All our children should be in school. Parents should be able to go to work without fear. My job as your next governor will be to ensure that no one’s civil rights are being violated and that we’re standing up for New Mexicans.
- Environment: We need to do everything we can to have a clean environment for our children. I know that we can protect the earth, have clean air and water, and create jobs. It’s not one or the other. We must protect the beautiful places our communities have enjoyed for generations, and we need to build jobs through these investments for the people of New Mexico.
- Diversity and Inclusion: It’s an embarrassment that this administration has dismantled efforts to ensure that communities who have never had a seat at the table, have a seat at the table. As Governor, I’m going to work every day to ensure that every New Mexican has access to opportunities in our state.
- Trump Administration: We cannot be silent and do nothing while this administration attacks working families. Many people rely on services from the federal government for their everyday life, and I will continue to be a voice for people who don’t have a voice. We’re all going to have a part in lifting each other up. I’m happy to see Democratic Attorney Generals filing lawsuits and hope they continue to do so.
These are not normal times. We need people power more than ever — which is why I hope I can rely on your support.
