John,
From the ballot box to the picket lines, from classrooms to boardrooms, women have always led the charge for progress. Our history is filled with women who refused to wait for permission and built, dreamed, and fought for a better future.
Last year was no different. Building off the energy from ballot measures in 2022, millions of women voted in 2024 with their top issues in mind — from inflation and the cost of living to abortion access and affordable healthcare — strengthening these protections for more than 11.2 million Americans. But every year is an election year, and the fight isn’t over.
This year, we’ve already gotten a glimpse at the hard work ahead:
👎 Fewer than 10 out of 510,000 college athletes [[link removed].] publicly identify as transgender, yet an executive order now bans [[link removed]] transgender women from girls’ and women's teams.
👎 The Department of Education rolled back [[link removed]] Title IX protections, threatening student safety and impacting LGBTQ+ students, sexual assault survivors, and pregnant students.
👎 Sixteen states [[link removed]] currently have total abortion bans or ban abortion before most people recognize they’re pregnant, and more restrictions on reproductive healthcare are being introduced at the state level.
Women — especially Black women — have always been the backbone of democracy, and we’re not backing down now. This year, we hold the line in key local elections:
🗳️ In Mississippi, women can help decide nearly 4,500 city council members.
🗳️ In North Carolina, more than 3.6 million women registered to vote can make their voices heard in 2,700+ city council races.
🗳️ In Virginia, where Alexandria elected its first Black mayor, Alyia Gaskins, women make up 53% of registered voters and will decide critical school board and city council races.
This Women’s History Month, we will continue to do what we do best: lead, fight, and win, starting with two simple steps:
✅ Check your voter registration: [[link removed]] Make sure you're registered and ready to vote because every year is an election year.
✅ Take care of yourself: [[link removed]] Prioritize your rest, recharge, and stay strong — because the fight for our future is a marathon, not a sprint.
The women before us didn’t wait. Neither will we. Let’s make history — again.
