John, did you watch the State of the Union this week? Kind of a gut punch right?

It isn't like we needed more examples, but the address to Congress by dictator-wannabe Trump was further proof that he is more focused on feeding his extremist base and tax cuts for his billionaire friends than bringing down your cost of living. That wasn’t an address from a president serving the American people, but one of a power-hungry partisan airing grievances and settling scores.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking since Election Day about what Americans were telling leaders like me with their votes. Here’s what I heard: You want us to lower costs and you want us to make life safer and more secure for your families. So I cannot fathom how my GOP colleagues walk away from the last election ramming through an agenda like what Trump is proposing. I cannot fathom how GOP leadership in Congress can feel justified in being complacent to the lawlessness and cruelty from this administration.
That’s why my special guest at the State of the Union address this year was a recently laid-off veteran federal worker.
Their story is unfortunately not at all unique since this administration took power. Every single day my team is flooded with calls and emails from families terrified their jobs are at risk, worried about providing food for their kids, bracing for healthcare coverage to be ripped out from under them, losing access to vital social services and so many more countless heartbreaking appeals.
If you have a story you would like to share with my team, I invite you to do so here → [[link removed]]

While Trump is ignoring these appeals — I’m listening to each and every one. I’m taking them with me to my committees, to the floor, and to my colleagues as we fight to stop this Republican trifecta’s barbarity and contempt for the American people.

My guest had the courage to stand up and share their story — many other courageous Americans are doing the same. Our stories are what bind us together and guide us in taking action, and I’m so grateful to everyone who uses their story to fight for a better world.

If you want to share your thoughts, fears, real-life impacts, or appeals over the extreme actions taking place in Washington right now, please share them with me here. [[link removed]]

Together, we will get through this and use every inch of our legislative, advocacy, and organizing power to stand up against this Republican trifecta.
