Dear Friend,

The fight against illicit finance and corruption has never been more urgent. Across the globe, transnational networks are fueling conflict, repression, and human rights abuses. In this critical moment, I am pleased to announce that The Sentry has appointed Justyna Gudzowska as our new Executive Director.

Justyna is a globally recognized leader on countering illicit finance and corruption with two decades of innovative work spanning government, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society. Her return to The Sentry is a full-circle moment—she previously led our Illicit Finance Policy team.

Her distinguished career includes roles at the US Department of the Treasury, where she helped craft financial pressure strategies against human rights abusers and sanctions evaders, and at the United Nations, working with dozens of governments and international organizations to strengthen global efforts to combat terrorism financing. Justyna has served as an executive director at Morgan Stanley, overseeing sanctions, anti-money laundering, and anti-corruption compliance, and has taught at Yale Law School and Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

Justyna brings unparalleled expertise to The Sentry’s mission. As corrupt actors continue to fuel conflict around the world, The Sentry remains committed to exposing these illicit systems and equipping policymakers, financial institutions, and law enforcement to hold perpetrators accountable.

Please join me, co-founder John Prendergast, and the Board in welcoming Justyna as she leads us in this next critical chapter. Now more than ever, we need your support to sustain and grow our vital work.

Thank you for being a part of this mission.

Best regards,

Bonnie Abaunza
