Dear friend,
I wanted to take a moment to share some important updates with you about the work we’re doing in Congress to protect consumers, fight for clean energy, and stand up for our communities.
Pushing Back Against the Administration’s Unlawful Federal Fund Freeze
Congress allocates funding to support communities, small businesses, and families—but that funding only matters if it actually reaches the people it’s intended for. Unfortunately, we’ve seen attempts to usurp Congress’s will, jeopardizing critical resources. I’ve been pushing back to ensure that every dollar appropriated by Congress is spent as intended—because people’s livelihoods and safety are at stake. We will continue to hold agencies accountable to prevent this gross power grab from harming communities.
Honoring the Japanese American Day of Remembrance
Last month, we reflected on the 83rd anniversary of Executive Order 9066, which led to the forced incarceration of over 120,000 Japanese Americans—including my own family. While the official Day of Remembrance is in February, the fight for civil rights and justice is ongoing. That’s why I remain committed to defending civil liberties, combating discrimination, and ensuring that the lessons of history guide us toward a more just future. In Congress, I’m working to advance policies that protect communities from discrimination and uphold our nation’s democratic values.
Making Fuel-Efficient Cars More Affordable
I recently joined my colleagues to introduce legislation aimed at helping you save money at the pump while reducing pollution. Too many Americans are paying high fuel costs because their vehicles aren’t as efficient as they could be. This bill focuses on giving consumers better options while encouraging manufacturers to prioritize efficiency.
It’s a win-win: lower costs for families and cleaner air for everyone.
I’m fighting every day for policies that uplift our communities, but I can’t do it alone. Grassroots support fuels our work and ensures we can keep pushing forward on these critical issues. If you’re able, please consider making a $25 contribution today to help us continue this fight.
