Racism takes many forms.
Sometimes it wears a hood and burns a cross on your lawn. But often it’s more insidious—infecting the structure, not just the surface, of American life.

Today’s forum comes at an especially painful time. I’m joining a peaceful protest this weekend against the murder of George Floyd and against the inequities that pervade our criminal justice system.
Forums and protests, of course, are not enough. We need new leadership—at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue.
The fight against racism and injustice has driven my work from the Southern Poverty Law Center to a state civil rights agency to the Colorado House of Representatives.
It’s a cause I’ll champion in the U.S. Senate.
