National Governors Association Winter Meeting 2025

Governor Polis speaks at a podium in front of purple curtains and a sign that reads "2025 Winter Meeting, National Governors Association."

I was thrilled to join over 40 bipartisan Governors in Washington DC for the National Governors Association Winter Meeting, and to further dive into my Chair Initiative, Let’s Get Ready: Educating All Americans for Success. I joined ParentData CEO Emily Oster and technology journalist Kara Swisher to discuss harnessing data and technology to advance education innovations.

At the 2025 Winter Meeting of the National Governors Association (NGA), Governors approved federal priorities to advocate to the 119th Congress and the administration.

The priorities were developed by three bipartisan, Governor-led task forces who meet regularly to discuss issues and policies that impact states, territories, and commonwealths. The federal priorities are backed by a resolution that was unanimously voted on to serve as a roadmap for NGA’s advocacy efforts at the federal level.

Our federal priorities include:
  • Enhancing emergency management;
  • Streamlining permitting processes;
  • Supporting flexibility and waiver opportunities and funding for state and territorial designed Medicaid, SNAP, and TANF;
  • Ensuring the federal government meets its already committed obligations for federally funded projects across states, territories and Commonwealths.

Signing First Bill of Colorado's Legislative Session into Law

Governor Polis signs HB25-1022 seated at a table in front a group of the bill's sponsors: Representatives Cecelia Espenoza and Karen McCormick, and Senators Dafna Michaelson Jenet and Janice Rich.

I signed bipartisan HB25-1022 - Qualified Medication Administration Personnel, helping to strengthen Colorado's healthcare workforce. This bill will help cut costs and support quality health care that is affordable and accessible to all Coloradans.

Happy Colorado Pint Day!

Governor Polis poses for a photo with the owners of Novel Strand behind the bar at their brewing company.

On Wednesday, March 5th, I celebrated the 10th annual Colorado Pint Day at Novel Strand Brewing Company. I encourage Coloradans to go out and support our local craft breweries! Colorado has over 400 craft breweries across the state, so I am thrilled to support such an important part of our strong community of small businesses.

Call for Artists - Colorado 150 Pedestrian Walkway

In partnership with the Office of Economic Development and International Trade’s Colorado Creative Industries, I opened up submissions for local artists to integrate their work in the Colorado 150th Pedestrian Walkway. Artists should submit their work by April 1st, 2025.
  • Up to 20 artists or artist teams will be selected to create projects depicting or celebrating one of Colorado's historical narratives.
  • The ideal completion for the walkway will be August 2026. The artist selection process will be complete by June 1st, and we expect to begin the design process in the Summer of 2025.
The Colorado 150 Pedestrian Walkway will serve as a new gateway into revitalized Downtown Denver. The initiative aims to tell the story of Colorado’s 150 years while further re-energizing and highlighting the Civic Center area.
