Dear John,
As one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth, Mexico is critical to reconnecting and restoring Wildways in North America. Even so, Mexico’s environmental budget is at an 18-year low, putting even its most protected areas – and iconic species like the jaguar and thick-billed parrot – at risk.
We’re working to reconnect, restore, and rewild Mexico through three key strategies:
Cutting-edge scientific research and data analysis
Targeted approaches to conservation policy
Strong local and national partnerships
As coordinators of NOSSA, a coalition supporting Mexico’s natural protected areas (NPAs), we co-authored this year’s “Caring for What Matters” report — a deep dive into the urgent funding crisis jeopardizing over 230 NPAs. We must act now to safeguard Mexico’s wildlife and ecosystems.
