John, we just sent a letter to Congress demanding that our elected representatives use their powers to hold President Trump, Elon Musk, and DOGE accountable.

We’re sending a clear message to Congress: With government funding running out next Friday, March 14th, Congress must seize this opportunity to exercise its power as a co-equal branch of government and STOP Elon Musk’s hostile takeover.  

The truth is, Musk is already trying to shut down our government, one mass firing or one shuttered agency at a time. Following the same playbook as previous government funding fights is effectively co-signing Musk's looting of our federal government.

Our Constitution is clear: Congress controls the “power of the purse” and how our tax dollars are spent – not the president, and certainly not an unelected, unconfirmed billionaire like Elon Musk. We must treat this like the constitutional crisis it is.

With your help, we’re demanding that our elected representatives condition government funding on principles that actually benefit the American people – requiring Trump, Musk, and the rest of the administration to:

• Spend funding previously approved by Congress – and rein in their cuts to our social safety net to protect the health and economic stability of our communities.

• Respect the rule of law and abide by decisions made by the courts.

• Comply with oversight and transparency rules to keep Americans aware of their actions – like subpoenas, investigations, and appearances at hearings.

Any members of Congress who support a funding deal without these safeguards are effectively giving Musk the green light to continue his slash and burn campaign.  

Musk's campaign against crucial public services is yet another scheme to enrich donors at the expense of hardworking everyday Americans.  

We all pay the price when an unelected billionaire is allowed to fire federal workers and gut the healthcare, food assistance, and education programs that millions of Americans rely on.
