Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, feminist movements have been at the forefront of humanitarian response and advocacy for marginalized communities. However, traditional funding mechanisms have often failed to reach those working on the ground, leaving feminist groups without the flexible, rapid, and sustainable resources they need to continue their efforts.

During this year’s Commission on the Status of Women sessions, Urgent Action Fund will be hosting a parallel event showcasing the Ukraine Feminist Hubs Initiative, an innovative, decentralized funding model designed to empower feminist movements to lead crisis response efforts in their communities.

This virtual event will explore key lessons from the Ukraine Feminist Hubs Initiative, highlighting how decentralized, feminist-led funding models can transform crisis response and strengthen feminist movements' infrastructure.
