Musk and Trump have been labeling NPR and PBS as propaganda, demanding they be defunded and pushing the FCC to launch formal ‘investigations’. Now, Republicans in Congress are racing to do what Trump says, introducing bills to defund public media.
It’s all part of Trump and his billionaire backers’ plan to do away with independent media so that the Oligarchs can spread whatever lies they like.
Jeff Bezos has jumped on board, telling The Washington Post staff that the paper would no longer publish views he disagrees with in its opinion pages. And Bernie is sounding the alarm.
It’s completely outrageous, but we are NOT powerless. To actually defund NPR and PBS, Republicans will need almost unanimous support in Congress. And they’ve tried this before and failed.
We can win this fight. But to do it we are going to have to show up in massive numbers and leave Congress no choice but to back off. That’s why Our Revolution is outside of NPR HQ RIGHT NOW, continuing to up the pressure on Congress to save independent media from Trump.
