GLAAD

Dear Friend,

The first two months of this year have already been a whirlwind. As we celebrate GLAAD’s 40th anniversary, we’re reflecting on the incredible progress we’ve made so far—and doubling down on the work still ahead. With growing challenges in today’s political climate, the fight for LGBTQ acceptance and equality has never been more urgent. GLAAD is working harder than ever to protect and advance the progress we’ve built together. Thanks to supporters like you, we’re not stepping back; we’re stepping up.

GLAAD continues to push for LGBTQ visibility at the highest levels:

At the Sundance Film Festival we co-hosted our second annual Cheers, Queers event, amplifying LGBTQ voices in film.

At the Grammys, we made sure LGBTQ artists were seen and heard, countering the misinformation and political attacks that attempt to silence them.

And in the world of sports, we partnered with the NFL for the fourth annual Night of Pride at the Super Bowl, ensuring that inclusivity is championed on and off the field.

Your support makes it possible for us to hold those in power accountable. When the National Park Service erased references to transgender people from the official history of the Stonewall National Monument website, GLAAD responded immediately. In less than 24 hours, we worked alongside the owners of the Stonewall Inn to organize a rally and protest, to garner national media attention, rallying community leaders, and to make sure the world knew the truth: transgender people—especially trans women of color—are at the heart of the LGBTQ rights movement, and their history will not be erased. Nearly every major news outlet covered our community’s response, a testament to the strength of our voices when we come together.

This is just one example of our accountability work to ensure that truth and fairness prevail. From tracking anti-LGBTQ rhetoric through the GLAAD Accountability Project and Trump Accountability Tracker, to calling out The New York Times for its harmful and biased coverage of transgender people, we are relentless in demanding accurate and inclusive representation.

And because of our supporters, we’re educating journalists and the public like never before. Through the ALERT Desk, our Media Reference Guide, and hands-on training sessions across the country, we’re equipping over a thousand journalists to accurately and fairly report on LGBTQ issues so that the news being told about our community is rooted in truth, not misinformation.

For 40 years, GLAAD has been at the forefront of the fight for LGBTQ acceptance. And for 40 years, those who stood with us fueled our ability to take action when it matters most. Today, as we face new challenges, it’s more important than ever to come together as a community. We won’t back down. We won’t be silenced. And we won’t stop fighting for a future where LGBTQ people are seen, heard, and valued.

Thank you for being part of this movement. Thank you for being part of GLAAD.
