Let me be fully transparent here: I’m going to ask for a contribution in this email to fuel my campaign to defeat Donald Trump.

I don’t enjoy asking for contributions, but I can’t afford to leave anything on the table right now.

Because it’s go time.

Tomorrow night’s public fundraising deadline marks the end of the first full month of the general election, and we’re putting this campaign into high gear as we march ahead towards the fall, and the most important general election of our lifetimes.

Folks, I know with full certainty that the most powerful tool that I have to defeat Donald Trump are my grassroots supporters, including you. This campaign has always been powered by grassroots donors -- people like you, chipping into emails like this one.

So even though asking for money is one of the worst parts of the job, I know that sending emails like this one is a must. And I know that I can count on you, to have my back in this fight against Donald Trump. He’s got a tremendous amount of money, but I believe that with your help, we can close the gap, outwork him, and defeat him.

Now whether you supported our campaign from the day I announced I was running for president, or you’re new to the team, I’m honored to have your support.
