Dear John,

Together We Advocate, our annual pro-life conference, was a tremendous success!

On Saturday, hundreds of pro-life advocates came together [[link removed]] to share fellowship, learn about the steps the pro-life movement is taking in our state and around the country, and get inspired to take action.

At the conference, we honored our incredibly talented student contest winners, who created beautiful artwork, wrote inspiring essays, and delivered exceptional speeches.

Evangelyn W., a seventeen-year-old senior at Chesterton Academy of the Willamette Valley and the first place winner of our oratory contest, told the deeply personal and inspirational story of her own birth to a teen mom who chose life and made an adoption plan.

In June, Evangelyn will go to National Right to Life’s 54th annual conference [[link removed]] in Kansas City, where she will compete against other student orators for the national prize.

Congratulations and good luck, Evangelyn!

During their general session speeches at Together We Advocate, our three incredible keynote speakers gave their testimonies about their personal experiences and reasons for advocating so courageously for the most vulnerable.

Abortion Survivors Network founder Melissa Ohden spoke about the so-called “dreaded complication” that the abortion industry doesn’t want to talk about: Babies born alive after failed abortion attempts.

“They tried for five days to end my life, and three days to induce [my mother’s] labor,” said Ohden, who survived a saline abortion in 1977. “I was born alive.”

Melissa said abortion providers finally “stopped performing [saline abortions] because too many babies survived.”

Dr. Kathi Aultman, a former abortion provider who had a powerful conversion and is now a prominent advocate for the unborn, shared that she previously believed she was helping women by performing abortions.

Ultimately, “I realized I couldn’t kill babies anymore just because they were unwanted,” she said. “And that was the end of my abortion career.”

In addition, Secular Pro-Life Executive Director Monica Snyder urged pro-life advocates to be bold about their pro-life advocacy and work to help everyone – whether they have a faith background or not – to recognize the truth of the pro-life message.

“It’s important for us to be able to discuss this in a secular context,” Monica said. “I want literally everyone to be pro-life.”

In addition, our workshop presenters provided attendees with critical information and resources to help them build a culture of life right here in Oregon.

I’m grateful for our time together, and I look forward to seeing you at our other upcoming events this year!
