Dear John,
We remain steadfast in our determination to take action, respond to challenges, and amplify our voices. From ensuring students can speak freely on campus to advocating for policies that uphold justice, this work is more critical than ever to build a brighter future for the American Muslim community.
To continue this forward momentum, we’re thrilled to introduce the newest members of our team, Communications Coordinator, Naïmah Muhammad and Non-Resident Policy Fellow, Layma Murtaza.
Naïmah Muhammad brings over a decade of experience in strategic marketing and audience engagement. At the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, she established the "After Hours" programs for adults, overseeing 24-30 programs a year to increase the museum's local audience and deepen public engagement and support. As an artist, Naïmah has been recognized by President Obama and Congress, and her music has been featured in TV shows and on curated playlists by Apple Music and Spotify.
Layma Murtaza is a graduate student at American University, finishing her second Master's degree in International Development Management. With a solid foundation in government policy, she has contributed to the California State Assembly as a District Representative and served as a policy advocate at Asian Americans Advancing Justice. Her academic journey includes a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Davis in political science, and a Master's in Global Public Policy from the American University in Cairo. She is passionate about advancing democracy and human rights and dedicated to working with marginalized groups to promote equity and equality.
We are honored to have Layma and Naïmah on board and look forward to the incredible work they will contribute to MPAC’s mission of advancing justice, equity, and dignity for all. Please join us in welcoming them!
In Service,
Haris Tarin
Vice President, Policy and Programming
