Last night, President Trump addressed Congress, and he laid out his dangerous plans for the next few years.

It’s clear that Donald Trump does not respect our Constitution or the rule of law. And he is willing to weaken or destroy the valuable institutions we depend on to get what he wants.

His radical policies are already causing chaos, John. I brought a doctor from Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago with me to the Joint Address. Her life changing research on neuroblastoma has ground to a halt due to the Trump administration’s freeze on medical research funding through the National Institutes of Health. Without the federal funds she had been receiving, her work can’t keep going.

And what’s more? He’s clawing back these federal funds in order to pay for tax breaks for his billionaire buddies.

But I – and my fellow Congressional Democrats – will do everything in our power to fight back. We are working day and night to prevent Trump and his MAGA allies in Congress from jamming through legislation that will have a devastating impact on American families.

But there are going to be many tough battles ahead, John.
