President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress

Last night, Congress welcomed President Trump into the House Chamber. Leading up to his speech, I released video messages in support of President Trump. I also was excited for the opportunity to visit with the media ahead of President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress. I highlighted my work alongside the President to secure our border and Make America Great Again. Watch my remarks and my visit to Media Row before the speech:

Working Hard on Behalf of Fellow Mississippians

I wanted to thank General Cross and other members of my staff who were able to get one of our veterans what he was owed in retirement back pay after a seven month delay. My staff and I will continue to do everything we can to support and assist our active duty service members and veterans.

 

Meeting with Border Czar Tom Homan

As a member of the Northern Border Security Caucus, I met with Border Czar Tom Homan. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Tom and his staff as we press forward to secure our borders. 

Homeland Hearing Opening Statement

I was honored to give the opening statement today at the Committee on Homeland Security hearing titled, “Countering Threats Posed by the Chinese Communist Party to U.S. National Security.”

I noted, “this long-term strategy is comprehensive. It is not limited to military capabilities—it includes the full range of economic, diplomatic, technological, and political competition. Critically, China is willing to play the long game and build up its power over the course of decades.

“The CCP’s ultimate aim is not to enjoy a peaceful balance of power with the West, but to establish its position as the dominant world power.

 “A world oriented around the vision and values of the CCP would look very different from the unparalleled freedom and prosperity produced by the Pax Americana. In contrast, Chinese hegemony would mean a global order subordinate to the desires and interests of a totalitarian Communist regime.”

Trump’s Border Results

President Trump has kept his promises to secure the border. I am honored to use my role as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Border Security to work with President Trump to promote policies that protect our communities and stop the flow of illegal immigration.
