In addition, I have fought tirelessly to get aid for those in my district and Southern California who have been impacted by the LA wildfires. It’s clear, however, that my priority of fighting for American families isn't shared by House Republicans. Over the past few weeks, “President” Musk—along with President Trump and Congressional Republicans—has been running around Washington decimating our federal government. From gutting entire federal agencies and firing thousands of government workers to trying to access Americans’ private information, Musk is not promoting efficiency like he and his DOGE bros have stated. Instead, he has made sweeping cuts to programs that impact everyday Americans the most, while eliminating oversight of his businesses. Recently, Elon Musk asked federal government workers to list five accomplishments from their jobs that week. In the spirit of government efficiency, I thought I would let you in on five things Elon Musk did to make the United States government worse in the past month: Made a plan to cut the workforce of the Social Security Administration in half, putting thousands of people’s benefits at risk. Fired VA healthcare workers and cut funding for veterans’ health initiatives and research into veteran-related cancers. Dismantled the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which will make it easier for corporations to steal from and exploit their consumers. Cut FEMA staff in the middle of multiple national disaster responses. Requested the private information of millions of Americans through the Treasury, Social Security Administration, Department of Education, and IRS systems. “President” Musk has made a real mess of things, but working families will feel these cuts the most—not Elon or his billionaire friends. Together with Donald Trump, the rich will continue to get richer while working families across the country suffer. I remain committed to fighting for families in California and beyond no matter their income. My Democratic colleagues and I will continue to push back against this power grab and work to deliver results for you.
