Last night Donald Trump addressed Congress. This could have been a moment to bring the American people together, but instead Trump gave a speech littered with partisan and divisive talking points.

He promised us he would do what it takes to cut costs for working families, but his administration has done the opposite. It was unsurprising that his speech was full of excuses — for reckless policies that will hurt working families and veterans, for trying to block crucial funding that millions of Americans rely on, and for tariffs he even admitted would cause "a little disturbance."

I attended the President's address, as I have done under both Republican and Democratic administrations. And last night I proudly invited a Granite State mother and advocate as my guest — someone who has experienced firsthand how vital programs like Medicaid and SNAP provide a lifeline for families.

It's for hardworking people like her that I voted against the Republican budget proposal last week that would have slashed Medicaid and SNAP, all to cover the cost of $4.5 trillion in tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.

I remain committed to lowering costs for families, defending the vital programs so many people rely on, and working to put New Hampshire first. We can’t sit back while Trump and his allies push their extreme and harmful agenda. If you're with me in this fight, please chip in.
