John,
More and more people across the country are rising up and saying: Enough is enough.
Last night, while addressing a joint session of Congress, the president explicitly thanked Elon Musk, the unelected billionaire who’s stealing from our communities for his personal profit.
This week I rallied outside the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) with HUD workers, housing advocates, and my Congressional colleagues to demand that these firings stop. Cuts to housing will impact many vulnerable communities that are already facing a housing crisis, including veterans, Black and brown communities, children living with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people, rural communities, and more.
Cutting VA jobs also hurts veterans. Last week I rallied with veterans, federal workers, and everyday people at Detroit’s Veterans Affairs medical facility to speak out against the unjust and illegal firings of workers who serve our veterans.
Watch this video of last week’s rally, then add your name to demand Congress take action against cuts to vital programs and services.
Last night, I held up a whiteboard with messages calling out Trump’s lies and his hateful attacks on our communities.
Together, we’re fighting back in many ways against an administration that is dismantling our federal government and coming after our federal workers. We won’t let the richest man in the world take over our government, which is meant to serve the people, not billionaires.
We’re uplifting the voices of federal workers and fighting back against cuts to the Social Security Administration, Veterans Affairs, Housing, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and attempts to completely dismantle the Department of Education and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Based on the Constitution, the President of the United States does not have the right to dismantle federal agencies without Congressional approval, nor the right to cut funds to programs that were already authorized by Congress.
Add your name today to demand Congress take action to defend our communities against cuts to vital programs and services.
We will keep standing with federal workers and demanding not only an end to illegal cuts, but also expansions for public housing and other essential programs that Americans rely on. I will never stop fighting for you and your loved ones, and remember: We have power together.
Yours in service,
Rashida
