Team, many of you rely on the VA.

We do, too. We don’t think the VA is perfect, and we bet you’d agree. We’ve been working for 20 years to improve it — efficiency, expanded care, new resources to meet the needs of this generation of Veterans. Improvement is critical to VA’s mission.

What this administration is doing isn’t about efficiency or improving care. It is about turning the VA into the worst of private health insurance — deny care and maximize shareholder value. Trump and Elon have made that perfectly clear.

Here’s how:

FIRST they fired 2400 VA staff. These were probationary hires, many of them Veterans themselves. Fresh talent and internal transfers or promotions — the pipeline for future sustainment of the VA.

THEN Trump’s former lawyer and current counsellor, Alina Habba, said that the Veterans Trump fired are .“not fit to have a job at this moment.” To every Veteran that lost their job: “I really don’t feel sorry for them.” They know what they’re doing — and they don’t care.

NOW we’ve got leaked reports from inside the VA that Trump wants to fire another 83,000 VA staff. That’s a reduction of nearly 20%. There isn’t a single element of the VA that would be spared by these cuts. If they go through with it, Veterans will die for lack of care.

And remember: They’re doing this — deriding the Veterans and staff who do the work, firing them, and impacting service — to privatize the VA for good. It is a betrayal. Full stop.

VoteVets has taken on the GOP and their efforts to destroy the VA for years. We’ve beaten them every time. But we’ve never taken on a challenge like this.
