Hello John,
Hey there, Piper Christian here, Stewardship Utah’s Air Quality Policy Associate with some great news–HB 420 Halogen Emission Amendments passed out of the Senate Natural Resources Committee, and will now be heard on the Senate Floor!
This bill addresses bromine and chlorine pollution, which can worsen inversions by up to 25%. 97% of bromine and chlorine pollution on the Wasatch Front comes from US Magnesium. HB 420 authorizes the Division of Air Quality to implement pollution controls at US Magnesium which would reduce their chlorine and bromine emissions by 75%!
We need your help getting a HB 420 Halogen Emission Amendments across the finish line. Please contact your Senator and urge them to support HB 420. Let them know that this bill would be a monumental win for our air quality.
Onwards!
