Jack,

Right now, the wild horses of the Stone Cabin Complex need you to speak up for them! The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is planning a cruel and costly helicopter roundup in the Complex — relying on outdated methods that ignore science, humane alternatives, and the horses' rightful place on our public lands.

Spanning over 571,000 acres, the Stone Cabin Complex comprises three Herd Management Areas and is home to over 1,000 wild horses who have roamed this land for generations.

But the BLM’s "Appropriate Management Level" (AML) allows as few as 218 horses — a number set nearly 30 years ago — without ever reassessing the land's current conditions or the genetic health of these herds. The future of these wild horses is at risk.

We’re calling on the BLM to:
✅ Reevaluate the outdated AML — reflecting modern science and land changes over the past 28 years.
✅ Abandon dangerous helicopter roundups — and use small-scale bait traps only if removals are necessary.
✅ Prioritize fertility control — a proven, cost-effective alternative to mass removals.
✅ Assess the true impact of livestock grazing — before blaming wild horses for range degradation.
✅ Recognize wild horses’ positive role in ecosystems — including soil aeration and seed dispersal.

The BLM must embrace humane, science-backed solutions — not cruel, costly roundups. But we need your help to make them listen.

Every signature matters. Let’s stand together to protect the wild horses of the Stone Cabin Complex and push for sustainable solutions that honor their role in our public lands.

Thank you for taking action to keep wild horses free and wild.
