Folks — Last night, I attended President Trump’s joint address to Congress.

I’ll share my thoughts with you in a moment, but first, I want to talk to you about my guest to Trump's address. Because when we talk about cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security, we cannot forget the everyday people who suffer due to this administration’s actions.

Last night, I was joined by a constituent from Milwaukee, a cancer patient who relies on Medicaid for her treatment. When I first spoke with her over the phone, she voiced how terrified the possible cuts to Medicaid made her.

Let me be clear: No one should have to consider bankruptcy to continue receiving lifesaving care, but that is the reality that many Wisconsinites and their families face due to the threat of President Trump’s cuts.

If Republicans cut Medicaid, it will be seniors, vulnerable children, and our neighbors and family members who pay the price.

Last night, we saw more of the same from Donald Trump. Finger-pointing and deflecting, and no real solutions for hard working Americans who need and deserve answers to their questions and fears.

It’s clear that Trump, Musk, and their Republican allies have one, and only one, priority: lining their own pockets by ripping away essential programs the American people rely on.

But they will not deter me from continuing to show up for everyday people. As Wisconsin’s Senator, I refuse to stand by while Republicans lay the groundwork to rip health care away from seniors, children, and veterans.
