When a private prison executive calls Trump’s mass deportation agenda “one of the most exciting periods in my career,” it tells us all we need to know: Corporate executives and private prison companies see mass deportations and detention as a payday. And it’s our tax dollars that will foot the bill. The Trump administration plans to triple the size of the immigration detention system by securing new contracts with private prison companies, reopening notorious detention centers, and even using Guantanamo Bay to detain immigrants — a plan they’ve already started to carry out. These plans will lead to severe human and constitutional rights violations and will disproportionately impact Black, Brown, queer, and trans immigrants. And it is all being fueled by greed and corporate interests. We refuse to stand by. We urge members of Congress to block funding for the Trump administration’s mass detention plans, including cuts to ICE, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and other agencies facilitating mass detention. Friend, take action today — send an email to your representatives and demand they block funding for this dangerous expansion. Your voice is critical to holding them accountable.
